I have an ARPS backhoe (# 730) with a 3 point hitch hooked up to a small Case tractor (David Brown, 1976). When I'm using the front end bucket, thebackhoe flops around (it is not the 3 point hitch that flops, it is justthe backhoe itself). Are there any kind of stabilizing bars, cables, chains, etc. that can be used to stabilize the backhoe when I am using thefront end bucket?

Mine did the same thing. I bolted 2 chain hooks to the far end of thedipperstick right next to the bucket and 2 more to body next to the stabilizers. When I am finished digging I retract the boom, fold the dipper, and curl the bucket. Then I attach the two chains as tight as they will easily go. Now I release the hydraulic pressure on the boom, allowing it to drop which tensions the chains. Now the weight of the hoe is held by the chains which prevent itfrom swinging from side to side, and it's own weight on the chains prevents itfrom jumping up and down. The bucket could still fall if the pressure leaked, but my bucket cylinder and valve are good so it is not a problem. It beats mewhy this is not a standard attachment on every hoe........ It only took a fewhours to rig up, and cost very little. Someday I may weld the hooks in place. Roger L. ....

Some of the other brand hoes have holes drilled through the swing and through the boom so you can install a pin with a ball on the end (like a ratchet extension). I had an older hoe that didn't have this. Are you sure yours doesn't have this setup already? If you have 2 1" diameter holes that can be lined up when the boom is straight back and up, you might get some pins and start saving that poor hoe form dangling around. Good luck. ....

I have been looking at different types of BH attachments. Is there a web site for this brand of backhoe? I am trying to decide on an attachment for my John Deere 1070. ....
